September 14, 2008

By Jeff Fisher
The High School Football Huddle

Just one week after snapping Hutchinson’s (KS) 36-game win streak, Rockhurst (#11 USA Today Super 25) saw its own win streak snapped Saturday. The Hawklets, the #1 team in 6A in Missouri, lost to Blue Springs, the #2 team in 6A in the state 28-21 in overtime Saturday.

#13 Rockhurst (MO) Snaps Hutchinson’s 36-Game Win Streak

September 6, 2008

By Jeff Fisher
The High School Football Huddle

It was the best in Missouri against the best in Kansas, and in the end it was the Show Me state that grabbed the bragging rights.

Eight-time Missouri champ Rockhurst (MO) beat defending 6A Kansas champ Hutchinson 28-21 Friday night. The victory by the Hawklets snapped Hutchinson’s 36-game win streak.

Rockhurst To Begin Quest for 9th Straight Missouri State Football Championship on ESPN

August 24, 2008

With Illinois-bound Nate Scheelhaase running the show for a quarterback at Rockhurst, the Hawklets should find themselves in position for a nine-peat in Missouri.

The national prognosticators are thinking that Rockhurst will be pretty good as well, and that’s why ESPN will air the team’s season opener next Sunday at Blue Springs South. Rockhurst is ranked #13 by USA Today and ESPN Rise, plus #22 by Prep Nation.

Blue Springs South will be a good test since ESPN Rise has the team ranked 49th in its pre-season Fab 50.
