It’s Ohio State!

March 20, 2008

Months and months of speculation ended Wednesday when Jeannette High’s Terrelle Pryor chose Ohio State.

The nation’s top recruit, who is the only Pennsylvania high school football player to ever run for 4,000 yards and pass for 4,000 yards, chose the Buckeyes over Michigan. To read more about Pryor’s highly anticipated decision, click here.

Seven Starters From Jeannette Football Team Lead Jayhawks to State Basketball Championship

March 16, 2008

The nation’s top high school football recruit Terrelle Pryor has another Pennsylvania state championship gold medal to hang around his next.

Saturday, Pryor and six of his football teammates led Jeannette to a 76-72 overtime victory over Philadelphia Strawberry Mansion and the PIAA Class 2A state basketball championship.

Pryor scored 23 points in the victory for the Jayhawks, who became the first school in the very powerful WPIAL to ever win state football and basketball championships in the same year. Jeannette (25-4) used only seven players in the game, and all seven were starters on the football team.

Next up for Pryor…a decision on where to play his college football!

Still No Decision…But Terrelle Pryor Playing For Another State Championship Today

March 15, 2008

The Year of Terrelle Pryor continues rolling along at breakneck speed today when the nation’s number one recruit plays for his second state championship during the current school year.

Pryor and his Jeannette (24-4) teammates will play Philadelphia Strawberry Mansion (23-5) at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center for the PIAA Class AA state title. Of course in December, the still undecided football recruit, led his Jayhawks to a state football title.

Maybe his appearance in Happy Valley this weekend, will help Pryor decide where he will play college football. Penn State is considered one of the four finalists for his services…with Ohio State, Michigan and Oregon still in the running.

Pryor delayed his decision beyond the National Letter of Intent signing day and has kept all of the recruiting websites buzzing about his final decision.

April 1st is the cut-off date for his decision.

Top Recruit Terrelle Pryor Looks To Make History in Pennsylvania Semifinals

December 5, 2007

We don’t have to go through the long list of great western Pennsylvania quarterback again…just think Montana, Marino and Namath and you’ll be fine.

On Saturday when the nation’s top recruit Terrelle Pryor leads his Jeannette Jayhawks onto the field against Wilmington in the PIAA 2A semfinals, Pryor will have a chance to do what no other quarterback in WPIAL history has done….rush for 4,000 yards and throw for 4,000.

Pryor surpassed the 4,000 yards passing last week and needs 118 yards to reach that magical mark. And talk about balance, this year Pryor, who usually plays only a half because of blowing out opponents, has rushed for 1,531 yards and 29-touchdowns and thrown for 19 touchdowns and 1,585.

As a team Jeannette is also putting up some incredible numbers including 770 points so far, which eclipses the all-time of 747 points a year ago by Southern Columbia.

On defense, the Jayhawks will have to shutdown Pitt-recruit Chris Burns, who’s rushed for over 2,100 yards this year. Only one running back, East Allegheny’s Monte Ashby, has rushed for more than 100 yards in a game this year against Jeannette.

It’s the second straight year that Jeannette and Wilmington have played for the right to go to the the state final. Last year, Jeannette won 28-7 and then lost to Wilson in the championship game.
