Colorado Showdown…Mullen vs. Cherry Creek

Lots of things are up for grabs Friday night when Mullen (4-1) plays unbeaten Cherry Creek (6-0) in a Centennial Conference showdown. Mullen is ranked #2 in the latest Denver Post/9 News Class 5A rankings, while Cherry Creek is #5.

Colorado High School Football Practice Underway

The Colorado high school football regular season begins August 22nd. Today, teams across the state began two-a-day practices in preparation for opening night. Click here to be taken to the Colorado High School Football Huddle for team previews and 2008 schedules.

Meanwhile, Altitude TV has announced that it will air nine Friday night football games live and one Thursday night contest. Chris Marlow will handle play-by-play and Blake Olson will do color commentary for the broadcasts.

Berthoud Beats Falcon For First Colorado High School Football Championship

December 2, 2007


Berthoud erased the bad memories of a 2006 perfect season that ended with a opening round playoff loss by beating Falcon 22-13 on Saturday for the Colorado 3A high school football championship.

Junior quarterback Jordan Major was named the game MVP going 6-for-14 through the air for 74 yards and a touchdown, plus one rushing touchdown.

It’s a "Grandview" From the Top of Colorado’s 6A Heep

December 2, 2007


Grandview began the season 1-2, but Saturday at Invesco Field that was all forgotten as the Wolves beat Douglas County 20-14 in overtime to capture the Colorado 6A high school football championship.

Senior Bo Bolen led Grandview to the title scoring all three of the team’s touchdowns to finish the season with 32. Bolen carried the ball 29-times for 115 yards.

Pueblo West Wins Battle of Ground Games to Capture Colorado 4A Title

December 2, 2007


Pueblo West beat Monarch 21-14 Saturday at Invesco Field to win the Colorado 4A high school football championship.

It was a battle of running back as the two combined to throw only 13 passes in the game. Monarch actually dominated the offensive statistics outgaining P-W 236-to-156 on the ground with Cale Soole gaining 127 of the 236 yards on the ground.

Colorado High School Football Championships

November 28, 2007


It will be the new versus the old when Douglas County (11-2) plays Grandview (11-2) for the Colorado 5A high school football championship Saturday at Invesco Field.

Douglas County opened its doors in 1897, while Grandview began playing football in 1998. Douglas County finally won it all in 2005, while Grandview will be playing in its first ever state championship game.

In Class 4A at Invesco Monarch (12-1) will play Pueblo West (11-2). After a 1-1 start, Monarch has won 11 straight…seven by shutout.

The 3A title tilt Berthoud (11-2) plays Falcon (13-0)…who by the way is known as the Falcon Falcons!

Colorado High School Football Brackets

November 1, 2007

National ranked Columbine begins its quest for a third straight Colorado state high school football championship having to play a 1-8 team. The reason, 32 of the 39 Class 5A teams make the post-season. Look for Columbine, winner of 22-straight, to play two-time runner-up Mullen again in the final.
