Georgia High School Football Huddle

Over the last several weeks, I’ve reported on the severe budget problems that are affecting Hawaii’s sports programs. Now, on the eve of the opening of the high school football season in Georgia, the Atlanta Journal Constitution has a great story on how the economy is affecting athletes and the teams.

One of the best stories in the story written by Michael Carvell is about a cattle farmer, who donated a cow to the East Jackson football team to defray the cost of team meals. Gives a whole new meaning to a team having a “beefed-up” offensive line!
